Travel Experiences at bugoma
Enjoy the sounds of nature, while observing the wildlife and birds at Ishasha Jungle Lodge, where the Ishasha plains are one of the best savannah experiences in Uganda. The sundowner in the jungle is a way to connect to the wilderness and to the Earth. River Ntungwe crosses along the lodge where a camp fire and bush breakfast are giving visitors the opportunity to fully feel the power of nature. In the surrounding areas, communities live a simple life and Kameme village is an example of a village walk where to learn about economic activities and culture while interacting with the people.
Uganda Mangabey Nature Walk
The Ugandan Mangabey nature walk is possible thanks to the development of eco-tourism in Bugoma Forest, which has the objective to protect this endangered primate and its forest habitat. Briefing is provided at Bugoma Jungle Lodge and guests walk directly entering the forest trails opposite the lodge. One of the most exciting moments is when tourists come to hear the calls and characteristic sounds of mangabeys.
Planting a tree
Every visitor coming to Bugoma Jungle Lodge as well travelling to Uganda should actively participate in sustainable tourism. We offer the travel experience of planting an indigenous typical tree in the area under reforestation of Every 5 Acres. This project was launched in 2021 with the objective to reforest a minimum of 100 acres of land, by acquiring and thereafter by reforesting. By doing so, we work for the restoration of chimpanzee’s habitat and we combat climate change by offsetting carbon emissions. We invite tourists to symbolically plant a tree as a way of contributing to a more sustainable tourism.
Bugoma Jungle Lodge Loop Trail
A guided loop trail is available free of charge at Bugoma Jungle Lodge, following the trail along the private forest of the lodge. The trail goes through thick forest and a small swamp. This activity gives the opportunity to sight primates, which are here regularly inhabitants (including the Ugandan Mangabey), as well as various birds’ species, sometimes including the rare endangered Grey Parrot. The Nahan’s Francolin is a red listed classified species which is also endemic to the Bugoma habitat and may be seen along the loop trail of Bugoma Jungle Lodge.
Commuity Walk in Nyakafunjo & Kyamujogo Villages
This is a unique travel experience that the lodge organizes in the national park of Queen Elizabeth. Guests will enjoy for about one hour the sundowner over the sprawling savannah as they relax in a set of chairs and having drinks, beers and snacks. The full package with service is provided by the lodge, while guests pay the entrance to the park.
NOTE: this includes snacks, drinks, service; it excludes transport and entry fee to the national park.
